Congratulations to Katherine Mulloy on winning our 2026 Employee Civil Rights in the Digital Age Scholarship!
Katherine Mulloy is a third-year student at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln from Olathe, Kansas. She is majoring in Emerging Media Arts (film concentration) and minoring in Film Studies. In 2024, she graduated from Johnson County Community College in Overland Park, Kansas, with an associate’s degree in Liberal Arts (journalism concentration). She is passionate about filmmaking, storytelling, leadership, and creative digital media, and hopes to become a film director or screenwriter after graduation.
What it means to Katherine: I am incredibly honored to receive this scholarship. In my essay, I wrote about the impact AI has on the civil rights of all people, but I feel especially connected to the topic as an Emerging Media artist. I know how important it is to be educated about this quickly-advancing technology, because it can redefine my career opportunities and creative integrity as a whole. I am very grateful to Erkel Law for letting me share my perspective and help protect equality in both real and digital spaces.
