2026 Employee Civil Rights in the Digital Age Scholarship

As technology continues to reshape the modern workplace, questions about privacy, fairness, and employee rights have become more critical than ever before. Erkel Law, P.C. is passionate about protecting workers and ensuring equal treatment under the law. These values are what inspired Erkel Law, P.C. to launch the 2026 Employee Civil Rights in the Digital Age Scholarship.

This $1,000 scholarship invites students to reflect on how advancements in areas such as AI hiring tools, workplace surveillance, and data analytics impact employee civil rights. Applicants are encouraged to discuss current challenges and propose meaningful solutions or legislative changes that could help protect privacy, promote fairness, and strengthen employee rights in a tech-driven world.

Award Amount: $1,000

Eligibility

  • This scholarship is open to any current high school senior, vocational student, college student, or graduate student who is a legal resident of the United States residing in one of the 50 states or the District of Columbia and who is enrolled in a vocational program or a two- to four-year post-secondary institution.
  • Employees of Erkel Law, P.C., their immediate families (parent, child, sibling, and spouse), and persons living in the same households of such individuals (whether related or not) are not eligible to participate in this competition.
  • Applicants should have a minimum GPA of 3.0 or higher and be in good academic standing.

 

Application Requirements

  • Complete the online application form below.
  • Submit a 750–1,000-word essay in response to the following prompt: Examine how advancements in technology (e.g., AI in hiring, workplace surveillance) have influenced employee civil rights. Discuss potential challenges and propose solutions or legislative measures to ensure fair treatment and protect privacy rights in the digital age.
    • Please note: All essays will be reviewed for originality and checked for AI-generated content. Essays determined to contain AI writing will not be considered.
  • Provide a professional resumé listing academic and work experience.
  • Submit a current transcript. First-year college, graduate, or transfer students may submit an unofficial transcript from their current school and the most recent official transcript from their prior institution.
  • High school students may provide proof of acceptance to a college or university.
  • Preference will be given to students who are from or currently attending school in the state.

 

The recipient of the 2026 Employee Civil Rights in the Digital Age Scholarship will be chosen during the month following the scholarship deadline of June 30, 2026.
